In Arizona, State Senator David Farnsworth (R-16) introduced EMP legislation, which passed the legislature and was signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer on April 25, 2014.  Although this piece of legislation does not provide protection or direct mitigation efforts, it does recognize the severity of the threat and alerts Arizona citizens to be prepared in the event of an EMP.  This initial bill is an important first step to protecting Arizona’s electric grid.
